First challenge – create a game based (loosely) on Sydney Cricket
Suitably wined and dined by the New South Wales Tourism team (see the picture below), we unleashed the first of our six challenges on them at the end of the evening…
- Come up with your own game based around a sport popular in Sydney
Aussie Rules Football, Rugby or Wallaby Wanging – the choice was completely open, with results to be presented in whatever form suited the game best.
We had whetted the appetites of all in attendance with our own creation – the simple (yet worryingly addictive) Sydney cricket, which encouraged participants to spin a coin into various areas of a simply made board to score runs, or lose their wicket.
Fingers ached, coins were lost, victories were scored - but as the English Cricket Team sadly stuck to real bat and ball and capitulated to Australia at Headingley, each of our participants was ready to begin the sporting leg of the Awesome Tour.
Australian sport is never going to be the same again…!
